Eligibility Criteria for NDT Courses
Educational Qualifications
Candidates interested to attend NDT courses must satisfy one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Graduated from a minimum four-year college or university curriculum with a degree in engineering or science; OR
- Undergraduate with 3 or 4 years of diploma in engineering in any discipline; OR
- Completed with passing grades at least two full academic years of engineering or a physical science study at a university, college, or technical school, plus 1 year (12 months) of experience in nondestructive testing in an assignment comparable to that of a Level II in the applicable test method(s), as defined in ASNT’s Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A, latest edition; OR
- Completed with passing grade High School or Higher Secondary School or Industrial Training with 3 years of industrial experience in an assignment at least comparable to that of a Level II in the applicable test method(s), as defined in ASNT’s Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A, latest edition.
Near Vision Acuity
The candidate must have natural or corrected near-distance acuity in at least one eye such that applicant is capable of reading a minimum of Jaeger Number 2 or equivalent type of size letter at the distance designated on the chart but not less than 305 mm on a standard Jaeger test chart. The ability to perceive an Ortho-Rater minimum of 8 or similar test pattern is also acceptable.
Colour Contrast Differentiation
The candidates willing to attend courses in penetrant testing, radiographic film interpretation or radiographic testing must be capable of distinguishing and differentiating contrast among colours or shades of gray respectively.
Near Vision Acuity and Colour Contrast Differentiation tests certificate can be obtained from ophthalmologist/optometrist, physician, registered nurse, employer’s NDT level III using the form Vision Requirements.
